"Hey hey, easy," Moving to calm the other, Gareth instinctively let out a soft rumble. "They're not goin' anywhere."
He looked at the nurses who looked back at him before nodding.
"They're just gonna be in their bassinettes right here with us. I won't let anyone take them away unless they absolutely have to okay? Even then, they won't be gone for long. Promise okay?" They were both perfectly healthy, there was no reason he couldn't make that promise but it still felt wrong. His mind conjured up what ifs that he didn't even want to linger on. Instead he made to comfort his mate instead.
Billy relaxed at both Gareth and the nurses assurance that the twins wouldn't be leaving the room. He's prevented from answering by a yawn and his eyes feel heavy. He's so fucking tired. It was easy to know that labour and giving birth would be exhausting but actually experiencing it? Billy had had two near death experiences and neither had left him this kind of tired. Unlike those times, there was a level of satisfaction that came with it instead of a bone crushing hopelessness.
"Okay. Okay. I just... I don't want them to leave this room."
Billy sighs and feels himself start to relax at the reassurances that no one is planning to take their babies out of the room and the soothing scent coming off his mate in waves. He can feel himself start to doze with the soft, consistent pets to his hair.

"No one's gonna take them anywhere. You get some rest and I'll be right here with them."
