Billy's heat hadn't been a regular thing since the day he'd gotten his first. It probably would have levelled out at some point but once he'd started fucking around and using the morning after pill and, occasionally, any birth control he could get his hands on, he'd pretty much guaranteed that it'd come whenever it felt like.
It had only gotten worse after Starcourt. The doctors had assured him that was normal as his body had needed to use that energy to heal and didn't have any extra left over to use on getting him laid.
So when he feels the first twinge low in his belly and the beginning of a fever, he knows exactly what is happening. It comes on far faster than he'd expected and he doesn't even question it when the teacher assigns Gareth to take him home. He sits in the car with his face pressed against the window and tries to breathe through the worst of it, thankful that Gareth is a beta and not an alpha.
Getting into his trailer is a task and a half and Billy just wants to strip down and curl up in his bed. He doesn't even realise that Gareth is still behind him until the guy is speaking to him.
Growing up a Beta basically meant for Gareth that he didn't have as much obligation to shit as some of his friends did. He also didn't have to worry about heats or ruts like alphas or omegas, not really at least. Sure he had something similar but it was nothing compared to what he had seen others go through.
Compared to what he was currently seeing Billy go through.
He had been tossed the blonde's keys and told to drive him home before he was jumped by some alpha who was too busy thinking with his knot and really he didn't mind. Sure Billy and him weren't exactly friends but he wasn't about to just leave the guy high and dry. When they did manage to get him inside he found himself realizing just how strong the others scent was when they were stuck in such close quarters.
"I said are you gonna be okay or should I get something? Someone? Do you have an alpha I should call or something? Someone to heat share with?"
It takes far longer for Billy to process the question than it usually would, his brain drowning in heat hormones. He can smell the beta from here; his scent isn't like an alpha's would be. It's not overpowering and it doesn't make him feel nauseas and, while he'd never really considered the nerdy drummer before him as partner material, he's wondering why now.
He stares at him and tries to make the words make sense before shaking his head. "No. Don't fuck with alphas. S'just me."
"You don't..." Gareth looks confused for a moment at Billy's words before he sort of blinks and seems to come to a realization.
"Oh...you aren't into Alpha's? That's....different. Uh...so no one to help you? Do...do you need anything then?" He really shouldn't just leave the guy alone right? Heats could be rough on people and from what he had heard it'd been a while since Billy had his last one. Something about healing...the teachers didn't go into detail because it wasn't something he needed to know. He just needed to know that this one was bad because he was...pent up? Not really how that works but essentially?
Reaching up he runs a quick hand through his hair, scratching at the scalp as he looks thoughtful.
"Any nesting materials? Uh...shit...what do omega's need during their heats?" Dick. Not helpful.
"They're fucking obnoxious and arrogant. Fucking smell bad." He wouldn't usually be this honest but with the heat hormones flooding his brain and the scent of an eligible beta before him, it's really hard to bite his tongue. When he's himself again, he'll probably regret outing himself like this but, for now, he couldn't care less. Honestly, Gareth fucking smells good and if the guy asked him to, he'd bend over and present himself.
"I need a dick, man. I need someone to dick me down and make me feel it." His grip on the counter is white knuckled and he almost pants, backing away from the beta. Any other time, the next words out of his mouth would never see the light of day, but this heat his absolutely kicking his ass and he's barely able to stop himself from panting. "If you aren't gonna fuck me, you need to leave."
"I mean most are yeah..." Gareth shrugs a bit, he knows a couple alpha's who aren't that bad. Eddie isn't so bad, granted he is something of a black sheep. Of course what Billy says next has him choking on his own spit. Billy wanted him to fuck him? A beta like Gareth? Granted Billy had said he didn't like alphas.
He has to stand and think for a minute. He'd feel bad just leaving Billy alone.
"If I leave, are you going to have anyone to help?" Because this definitely seemed like it was going to be a rough one judging by how Billy was looking just then. Besides it wasn't like it'd be a chore to help the guy, he definitely wasn't hard on the eyes and he did smell really good.
Billy nods because, yeah, that's what he said and of course someone like Gareth would know exactly what some of these alphas are like. Just because he smells good to Billy and is proving to be a good guy, doesn't mean the alphas in their school would look at him as anything more than a nerdy beta.
"No." Why bother lying at this point? "I'll manage. Wouldn't be the first time." It was Hawkins after all and it wasn't like Billy had a long line of betas or omegas to seek out when his heat hit. He'd almost considered asking Steve once but had decided not to. "I can ma-manage."
Hearing that has Gareth taking a couple steps forward, hands moving to brace against Billy's arms as he moves to direct him further towards where he's guessing Billy's room is.
"Nope, not smelling like that you won't." He sighs, trying not to inhale too much of the sickly sweet scent...for all that isn't working at all. Instead he's closer and the smell seems to envelope him. Yup. He's helping and that's that. Unless Billy changes his mind and starts to push Gareth away. "Come on, I'll help."
Billy goes tense for a brief second before relaxing into Gareth's touch, all but melting back into him. He lets the beta guide him through the trailer, trying to focus on taking actual steps and not the heat at his back.
He should probably ask if he's sure, thank him or something, but all Billy can think about his good he smells and how good it's going to feel. The trailer has never felt so big as it does in this moment and Billy finds himself stumbling as they reach his room. No one else has been in there so it smells only like him. Sitting down on his bed, Billy releases a shaky sigh.
"Billy I'm here to help, I'm not claiming you. Especially not in the middle of a heat." Gareth shakes his head, already removing his vest and at least one of his double layers. Tossing them in a corner where he can find them later, he steps closer to Billy's bed, kneeling between his legs and resting his hands on the others knees.
"Tell me what you don't want, things that aren't okay." As he talks he runs his hands up Billy's denim covered thighs, inhaling the stronger scent from where he's seated.
Billy sits there somewhat uselessly and watches as Gareth takes off his vest and shirt before kneeling down in front of him. He's so fucking close to where Billy needs him but finding the words seems almost fucking impossible with the heat muddling his brain that only gets worse when hands rest on his legs.
"J-just don't bite." There might be other things but for now, that's the only thing that comes to mind. He spreads his legs in invitation, hands sliding to Gareth's shoulders and he nods, giving the beta the okay.
"I won't," Gareth nods, hands moving to help the other out of his pants. Lips brushing over skin as it's bared. It wasn't like he'd ever helped anyone through a heat before but he'd heard stories at least. Granted nothing could really prepare him for even just how good the other smelled and the way it would affect him. His mouth was practically watering as me moved closer to his destination.
As he did he did his best to purr, a comforting sort of noise as he moved.
Billy's breath shudders at each touch and he feels all level of his control slipping away, brain fogging over so completely that the only thing he's able to think of is the heat of Gareth's hands on his thighs and lips on his skin.
The purr isn't perfect but it means something that he tries and Billy purrs in response, gripping tightly at his shoulders and trying not to thrust his hips up.
The last 29 hours had been a lot. Far more than Billy had expected. And Gareth had been a champ through the whole thing. It had been known from the very first scan that there was a good chance Billy would deliver early; his body had experienced so much trauma over the years and carrying a baby was not going to be easy but it would be worth it. Upon learning it was twins at 27 weeks, when Baby B had dislodged herself from her place lodged in his back and helped ease some of the barely manageable pain, his OB/GYN had declared there was no doubt he'd deliver early.
At least she'd agreed to let Billy try for a natural delivery. Of course, it came with the solemn swear that if she declared it wouldn't work, he'd have to let them perform a C-Section for the safety of him and his babies. One look at Gareth and Billy had nodded.
When the time had arrived at 34 weeks, they'd gone to the hospital almost as soon as his labour had started, as instructed by his doctor.
Labour sucked. It sucked so fucking bad and he was once again grateful that they were getting two in one because even if he could do it again, he didn't think he'd want to.
He'd delivered Baby A vaginally and not long after that, his BP had dropped, his contractions had all but stopped and Baby B's heart started to drop. Only slightly, but it was enough for his doctor to declare a c-section was needed for both of their sake.
Gareth had stayed with Baby A and Billy hated having to do this next bit alone, but he knew their baby needed their dad and not some stranger to stay with him.
Baby B was delivered safely and Billy was stabilised. Everything went well, including the hysterectomy they'd all agreed upon ahead of time to ensure he wouldn't conceive again in the future.
It feels like forever, but finally Billy is left alone with Gareth and their babies. He aches and he's exhausted but he's never been so happy.
The little boy is tucked against his chest and their daughter is asleep in Gareth's arms and Billy smiles.
When it all started it was like a whirlwind for Gareth. He hadn't been expecting any of it yet but luckily he had listened to his mom and made sure that they had a bag ready just in case. The bag had been ready for almost a week at that point and Gareth had thought it was unnecessary to do it so soon...shows what he knew.
The proceedure went fine...until it didn't and Gareth was sent out of the room as Billy was prepper for surgery. Left pacing until it was finally done.
At least he handled it better this time.
Now he sat with their daughter asleep in his arms and Billy holding their son and he couldn't help but feel warmer than he ever had. He wanted to cry, had even after he was handed one of the babies earlier. Looking up when he heard Billy talking to him, his smile grew.
"Love ya too, and the two raisins, look at'em." He whispered excitedly as he leaned closer to his mate.
"Fuckin' lucky they're so perfect." It'd been a lot of pain to bring these two into the world and, even if he complained in private to Gareth, he'd do it all over again.
Everything about them was perfect; from the tiny button noses to the little curls nestled on each of their heads and their scents were the best thing that had ever graced Billy's senses. It was soft and subtle and the perfect mix of their parents with the added mix of milk, a common thing in babies that they grew out of as they grew old.
His voice is barely a whisper when he says, "I didn't even know I was capable of loving something this much."
Turning his head to press his lips into Billy's hair, Gareth lets out a long sigh. He had been so nervous for so long that now seeing all three of them healthy and happy made him relax. There was a calm that washed over him as he sat on the edge of Billy's bed, holding their daughter and looking down at their son. Their kids. It made him giddy to think that they had two beautiful kids.
Sure they'd been preparing for the twins for months but still, it was surreal having them there.
Gareth wasn't the only one completely in awe of the two little lives they'd created. Billy had had the added advantage of feeling them kick and squirm inside of him the majority of the last few months and while Gareth was able to feel them on the outside as the kicks got stronger, it was an entirely different thing, having them growing in your belly.
He was still completely blown away by them.
"It's like my heart split in two and now lives outside of me."
Laughing quietly Gareth leaned in close to Billy, resting on him gingerly as he looked at the baby in the blonde's arms and then back at the one in his own.
"Eddie and everyone is going to freak on us for not telling them about the twins." He grinned, imagining his best friend freaking out but also trying to be as quiet as Eddie Munson could be. They had told everyone when they only knew about one but so far the only people who knew that it had in fact been twins were their parents and maybe Max. She was pretty good at keeping secrets.
Pressing his lips to Billy's shoulder he hummed happily and rubbed his face on the other as he felt himself getting tired. "You gotta be tired, maybe we should let a nurse take them and you get some sleep."
"Munson is gonna kill you for hiding it from him."
The decision to keep the twins a secret had been an easy enough one to make as soon as Billy had considered the look on everyone's face when they showed up with a second tiny human instead of just the one they all knew about. Mostly Eddie and Steve, if Billy was truly honest. It had been easy enough to hide that there was more than one because he'd carried their daughter tucked close to his spine. Sure his back had suffered but it was worth it. Gareth's mum had nearly lost her fucking mind when they'd told her and Max had teared up when she found out she was getting a niece and a nephew. That was worth it too.
"I'm so fucking tired but I don't want to let them out of my sight. I've had them so close this whole time and now... How do I protect them out here?"
"Don't remind me." Gareth laughs, keeping his volume down to not bother the little ones as he shifts a bit. He could only imagine his best friends shocked look before he would definitely pull Gareth into a headlock. If he was lucky he'd get away without that if he's carrying or holding one of said babies...if not he was up shit creak.
"Hey, you need your rest. The nurses will take care of them for now and when we get home I'll be there too. Plus we have mom and everyone else. We're not alone in this." Leaning in close, Gareth pressed a kiss to on of the blonde's temples before pulling back. "We'll figure all this out together, promise."
"He's gonna lose his fuckin' mind though." Billy was confident that all their weird little friends were going to be excited for them. No doubt they'd be excited to have two new Hellfire Club members and Billy had a future surrounded by nerds.
"No. They're not leaving this room. They have to stay here with us." Billy felt himself start to panic at the idea of their babies being taken away from him, somewhere that he could see and smell them, where they weren't right beside him. "Don't... D-don't let them take the babies away."
"Hey hey, easy," Moving to calm the other, Gareth instinctively let out a soft rumble. "They're not goin' anywhere."
He looked at the nurses who looked back at him before nodding.
"They're just gonna be in their bassinettes right here with us. I won't let anyone take them away unless they absolutely have to okay? Even then, they won't be gone for long. Promise okay?" They were both perfectly healthy, there was no reason he couldn't make that promise but it still felt wrong. His mind conjured up what ifs that he didn't even want to linger on. Instead he made to comfort his mate instead.
Billy relaxed at both Gareth and the nurses assurance that the twins wouldn't be leaving the room. He's prevented from answering by a yawn and his eyes feel heavy. He's so fucking tired. It was easy to know that labour and giving birth would be exhausting but actually experiencing it? Billy had had two near death experiences and neither had left him this kind of tired. Unlike those times, there was a level of satisfaction that came with it instead of a bone crushing hopelessness.
"Okay. Okay. I just... I don't want them to leave this room."
