History: History pre-Stranger Things 3 finale.
Despite all odds, Billy was able to heal and recover from his injuries. He's covered in scars and has some new fangled powers left over from his time as the Mind Flayer's puppet including powers similar to Eleven's, increased strength and a sensitivity towards other supernatural creatures (he can sense when they're near and that they're there). He also bleeds black blood.
Does your character have any close ties to existing canon characters? (Canon OCs and AUs only.) Billy has links to both Elle and Hopper. Mouse and KaOS were the ones who encouraged me to bring Billy into the fray. Mouse and I have even discussed the idea of Elle being the one to suggest New Dodge to Billy after he talks about wanting to start fresh and get out of Hawkins. To fit in with Mouse's AU, I will be aging Billy up to 21, while keeping his canon the same.
Why do you think your character would work in this setting? Billy's life thus far has been rather difficult and each obstacle that's been thrown at him, he has managed to overcome, albeit with a rought exterior and a trailer full of issues.
After his latest set back, Billy is ready to start anew, work on himself and build a life to be proud of and happy with. The problem he was faced with was not knowing where to start or how exactly he was going to have a fresh beginning with so many of the causes for his struggles breathing down his neck. Elle is the first person to mention New Dodge to him and he has time to consider it before the offer to come is made to him, so when he's faced with the option, he makes a relatively informed decision and is excited to begin again somewhere new, in an environment where he has a chance to be the person he wants to be without being overshadowed by the person he was.
How do you plan to expand their CR? Billy is 100% a people-person. He prides himself on his ability to fit himself into any social situation by being charming and charismatic. Once upon a time, he used those skills to mask a nasty and violent streak that lived close to the surface but since the events with the Mind Flayer, he's started to work on his behaviour and attitude and makes an effort to be more genuine with the people around him.
He's incredibly extroverted and enjoys social interactions -particularly parties- and, couple that with a fear of abandonment, Billy has the potential to be an incredibly good friend to anyone who manages to look past his attitude and defence mechanisms at the person underneath it all.
I don't have any current plots that will further Billy's CR outside of Elle and Hopper, but he's not the kind of person to shy away from people and will quite happily insert himself into situations where he can socialise. He's at a point in his life where he wants to grow as a person and learn who he really is and who he can become and he'll want to surround himself with positive influences who are willing to look past his gruff exterior to see the person beneath it who wants to be better.
One thing I would really like to explore with him is sessions with a counsellor. He started with Dr. Owens before he left Hawkins and he wants to continue because he feels like it's necessary to further his growth.
Places you're most likely to find him is at the bar playing pool or darts or just flirting with those around him or near any body of water because this California baby loves him some sun and swim time!
What will your character do for work? Billy worked as a life guard at the local pool in Hawkins and is an excellent swimmer and surfer, making him a great choice as either a life guard or a swim/surf instructor. He's also incredibly good with cars. His preference would be something mechanical that provides a challenge and lets him work with his hands but he knows beggers can't be choosers.
Inventory: Billy brought with him one gymbag containing:
• Several outfits.
• His Johnny Rebs.
• His St. Christopher necklace that he never takes off.
• A worn copy of The Shining novel.
• Two photos; the only one he has of his mum and one of Max.
• Gum. Lots of gum. He's trying to quit smoking.
• A notebook he's been using for his sessions with Dr. Owens.
• His car keys, including the spare out of spite to his old man, who would have to find a way to get rid of the Camaro left on his front lawn with a cut ignition cable, drained of oil and without keys.

Third-Person Sample: TDM post, the initial post is over 300 words but I'm also counting on extra comments when Billy gets to meet all the new people!
